Masi Oka became famous by playing Hiro Nakamura, a fan favorite character on the NBC hit show “Heroes.” Masi’s character is a comic-book-loving optimist who discovers he has the ability to manipulate time and space.

“When I was a kid, I kept saying that I wanted to win Oscars in the technical and creative fields, to show the world that the human brain has two sides.” Masi Oka has been nominated for a Golden Globe and Emmy Award.

The last blog in our 7 Days, 7 New Blogs event isn’t what you would normally expect from a blog. Some friends and I took this to heart and with we soon realized there is a real opportunity to highlight the success stories of Asian heroes. They are our catalysts for change, recognizing possibilities and have the courage to take on risk; to realize that people are most in danger of not being what they might have been.

We hope you will read this blog, be introduced to the titans of the world, be inspired to go out and innovate, and lastly, to discover the great potential of being someone else’s hero.

Lee Kuan Yew towers over other Asian leaders on the international stage yet comes from one of the region’s smallest countries.

Fists flying, he immersed himself in a world of communists, labor organizers, gangsters and intelligence operatives, emerging in 1959 as Prime Minister–with his enemies all knocked out of the ring.

He was regularly re-elected from 1959 until he stepped down in 1990.

Under his guidance, Singapore became a financial and industrial powerhouse despite a lack of abundant natural resources.
